Training for January

Today I did training at Howlesen Hill. I did the 60m out-run and the 40m out-run. It was so much fun, bit scary at first. I got measured for Jumping Skis today and my suite. It was so exciting I had so much fun. All of my team is so nice to me even though I'm new in the team.

I forgot to tell you that I went to Howlsen to have lunch at Carls. We caught up with some friends named Mimi Star (Miriam) and Captain Sam (Sam). We saw my aunty Kylie's plaque outside of Carls. She was in the Walk of Olympians which are several plaques along the side walk in the cement. It is very interesting. Just up the road there is a hall of fame which holds two of my Aunty's flags for the Olympics. She was invited to three Olympics but she could only attend two because she hurt her back so she  couldn't attend one. She is Awesome!

I had such fun today and yesterday. I love Steamboat.

Merry X-mas

Christmas is just around the corner and I am very excited I hope you are to. Christmas is my favourite time of year. It is all about spending time with family and celebrating the birth of christ. As you can see christ is the first part of Christmas.

My teacher this year once lived in another country that doesn't  celebrate Christmas so her family couldn't get a Christmas tree. So she went to the trading market and she found a box that said mas tree on it. The people who ran the whole trading market used to like to cross out parts of words on packages. So they crossed out the Christ in Christmas. From then on she put it in all her classrooms at Christmas time and all the students call it the Mas tree.

I love decorating the Christmas Tree. This year we may have broken a few decorations but the tree looks really pretty. I love all the lights we even have a flashing star at the top!

I would just like to wish EVERYONE Merry Christmas, and a happy new year.

Back in Steamboat

Back in Paradise!!!!!

Yes, Im in Steamboat again!!! As you might know I am Nordic jumping in January to raise money for people in need. I am having my first training session for an hour this afternoon and I am very excited. I am so excited to be in Steamboat it is my favourite place in the world! It would be the first place I would recommend to anyone. I ski all day, have a hot chocolate at the Ptarmigan Inn then go training at Howlsen Hill at Night. It is first class to me. I had lots of fun last year fore running the Cowboy Downhill and I talked to Mike Lane today and I might be able to do it again! Yay. I love Steamboat it has so many nice people and so many fun thing to do. Don't tell anyone but I prefer Steamboat over my own house in Australia. Why would I recommend Steamboat?

1.The Snow is the best I have ever skied

2.Everyone that lives here is Nice ( i even have more friends here than Australia)
3.There are so many fun things to do
4.There are so many Awesome events
5.I could go on forever but I don't know if you are allowed to post a blog that big
6.Who wouldn't come to Steamboat.

Close your eyes and take 10 deep breaths in and out. Imagine that you have just come off a 14 hour plane trip and you are so tired. You are about to get on another plane for two hours to Hayden in Colorado. When you arrive in Hayden you get a Alpine taxi and it takes you to a wonderful place called Steamboat Springs. You are suddenly filled with excitement when you see all the beautiful lights and people and families together you are filled with happiness and you feel at home. This is what I feel like when I arrive in Steamboat. I feel even better but it is such a good feeling that I can not put it in words. I hope to see you in Steamboat. If you do come and you are on the mountain skiing or snowboarding look out for a crazy little girl in colourful green, blue and yellow pants and a purple or blue Jacket. I also wear a blue helmet. Say hi and tell me that you read my blog.

I hope to see you on the slopes!!
See you, Paris

Please Help these Great Causes!!!

I recently overheard my mother talking to a work colleague about some hardships she was having with her husband battling cancer, and her sister who has been in a coma in hospital for a long time, so I wanted to do something to help. Imogen and I have been Nordic Jumping on our normal ski's for fun in Steamboat Springs. This year we are going to do it on real Nordic Ski's!!! We are very excited! We don't think there are many (or any) other Australian's that do this sport! Last year, my sister and I managed to jump 12.5 and 11.5 meters in distance in the local Wednesday night competition in Steamboat Springs (and with a total of 23m each over two jumps)- in the Hitchens Brothers series. (http://www.steamboattoday.com/news/2013/jan/16/hitchens-brothers-wednesday-night-jump-series-resu/). This year, we will jump in the competition for a purpose. I am hoping some kind people in the Canberra and wider community might sponsor them for a pledge per metre they jump at the first Wednesday night competition in January 2014. Charities I will support with the money raised: 1. The Global School Partners Canberra Sunshine Academy- helping children in Kenya attend school- a charity I have been involved in for over a year now. (www.globalschoolpartners.org.au) 2. Hands Across Canberra- ensuring money goes to charities in need in their local community (http://handsacrosscanberra.org.au/) 3. Raising money for their mothers work colleague who is having a very difficult year with medical requirements/ expenses for two of her immediate family members. 100% of the proceeds will go equally to these charitable causes. You can track the event and the training on my ski blog! HOW TO DONATE: You can donate to Westpac Account BSB 032719 Account 528646. If you would like to pledge $1 per metre jumped, please leave a comment on my page, or email my mum pariscameron1@gmail.com and we will let you know how far we jump in Jan 2014!!!
